Sere's world has a complex system of ranking dependent on several factors including longevity, immortality, and creation ability. In general, the lower the ranking, the more abundant the deity.

Steadfast Gods (The Immovables; the Unchanging Gods): The Steadfast Gods are Time, Fate, and Death. They have no physical form and undefinable ethereal forms. Time and Fate are only visible to the Greater Gods, though Death can be visible to any of the spectrum. The Steadfast Gods cannot be reasoned with or avoided. They affect everything and anything, though they never directly meddle.

Greater Gods (High Gods; First Gods): The Greater Gods are the strongest and oldest of all the deities. They created the world and most of the denizens that live in it. Most of the Greater Gods are responsible for multiple abstract concepts, though some also specialize in the physical. Greater Gods often create Lesser Gods to handle the specifics of some of their tasks. Greater Gods can change their form effortlessly, and may meddle with mortals. The Greek God Zeus would be a Greater God.

Lesser Gods (Low Gods): The Low Gods are the children of the Greater Gods. They specialize in specific areas of the world, such as the Sky God or the God of Sleep. Lesser Gods often create Immortals to handle the fine details of their tasks. Lesser gods can change their form easily, and can meddle with mortals. They can create anything lower than themselves in the hierarchy.

Greater Immortal (High Immortals): High Immortals are usually created to handle specific tasks. Those with physical shells can be killed, but they will not stay dead as long as they are loyal to their tasks. Some High Immortals can create Low Immortals, though most do not have the ability. Physical shells cannot be altered by the Immortal, though they often change to reflect the Immortal's mental state.

-Aspects: Generally incorporeal Immortals who are the caretakers of ideas rather tangible objects. Daydream and Nightmare are Aspects of the God of Sleep, responsible for positive and negative aspects of dreams.

-Personifications: Generally corporeal Immortals responsible for aspects of the physical world. Chroma is the Personification of color, and is responsible for keeping the physical world colored. Lanananayeej is the Personification of sound.

Lesser Immortal (Low Immortal): Low Immortals are created to handle specific physical locations or objects. Unlike High Immortals, Low Immortals often come into existence without the aid of the Gods. They are technically ageless, and bound to whatever physical object created them. They can be killed, and can interbreed with mortals

-Guardians: Guardians are the most common of the Immortals. They are bound to a specific location, and exist as long as that location exists. Often a Guardian will take on a form of a mortal creature that lives in or near its home, and it's form can alter over time as the mortals change. Khree is a forest Guardian who takes the form of a large barn owl.

-Elementals: Elementals are Low Immortals that come into being around geographical changes. They are generally Fire and Wind elementals, though other types have been seen. Water elemetals are a bit difficult to classify since they originate from bodies of water, and are often considered to be both Elementals and Guardians. All Elementals are very dangerous.
A little bit about Sere's world, as this ranking system plays a big part in how he views others. Note that this list has been tested with fictional characters from other series, and for the most part any magical creature will fit into one of the categories.
